The project of deployment of the latest Microsoft products at the company Sopro Polska was prepared by Datacom System S.A. – certified Microsoft partner with Information Worker Solutions authority.
It was assessed, that the best solution will be to construct a system based on the new line of Microsoft applications, therefore, the deployed software included:
- Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise,
- Microsoft Office 2007,
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
"The aim of deployment was to make the new operational system and office package available in every day work , as well as the verification of their functioning in the production environment. We paid great attention to those system features, which enable our Client’s employees to make the right business decisions at the right time, and allow to focus on the essential job." – said Adam Sułek, technical director of Datacom System S.A.
The main stage of deployment was installing and configuring the operational system Windows Vista Business in the test and production environment. During the test, there were three methods of installation used:
- mass, on new computers using the server,
- updating of older operational systems,
- as well as “clean” standard installation using optical carriers.
"On the one hand, the whole project aims at gaining experience in the installation and configuration of a new product, and on the other, revealing new function of the system, such as improved security functions, data protection and a function, which allows the user to focus only on the performed job" – said Dariusz Zdanowski, engineer of computer systems at Datacom System S.A..
The main element of the newly built IT system at Sopro Polska is to be Office SharePoint Server 2007. It will allow users using the latest Office 2007 suite to expand possibilities of common usage, analysis and management of information.
Built-in functions – to which access has been significantly simplified – allow for faster sharing of information, or joined work on documentations.
“The shape of the interface of the new Office 2007 unlike ever before gives the possibility for finding the required function quickly” – said Krzysztof Szafer, project director at Datacom System S.A.
The complex deployment of Office SharePoint Server 2007 will also unify the management of internal company portals and their content. Through this, access to the most important functions will be increased, on which the effectiveness of whole enterprise often depends.
In this way, Sopro Polska will gain a mechanism allowing for constant and updated monitoring of the enterprise’s activity – mainly due to intranet and extranet portals.

When we deploy the ordering system for partners through extranet websites, our cooperation with them will become more effective, and this will also accelerate our internal business processes. The new office suite will also help working teams in easier and safer information sharing – regardless of location or organisational limits. “

The most important objective of the deployment carried out at Sopro Polska is to increase productivity of the IT system’s users. The platform based on Microsoft products – including Office 2007 – contain many facilities, which made it possible to satisfy these needs.
Among others, these are:
- improved interface,
- easy access to individual functions,
- browser (also in network resources),
- data safety,
- bookmarks and the visualisation of the functions’ effect,
- option of comparing two documents,
- automatically projected set to introduce changes in the text,
- functional bar “„To – Do - Bar”.
