Xerox Open Days: on improving work in the office and colour printing

During the Open Days which took place on 19 and 20 October 2004 in Warsaw, the company Datacom presented the latest Xerox solutions in the field of professional colour printing and work with documents in the office environment. Participants familiarised themselves with the subject of improving work in the office by employing advanced document circulation systems, fax management and monitoring, and control of printing, copying, scanning and faxing costs. Among the presented products for colour printing, the highly efficient laser printer Phaser 6250, designed for use in the office environment, caused great interest. Participants of the meeting could familiarise themselves more closely with the Solid Ink printing technology, used on one of the presented printers Xerox Phaser 8400. In comparison to the laser, the Solid Ink technology guarantees stability of colours to a higher degree and enables the printing of a greater range of media, among others including on film and textured paper.

For graphic environments, the organisers designed Phaser 7750 printing with a speed of 35 pages per minute and in colour, which provides a very good quality of pictures. The time of printing the first page in colour on the device Phaser 7750 amounts to only 11 seconds. Another presented proposition: Docu Color 12 is a copier-printer meant for companies working with professional printing, as well as office environments, where sample, presentations, offers or report colour printouts are done. Thanks to employing the efficient printer controllers EFI Fiery X12 and XP12, DC 12 enables fast printing, low costs and personalised correspondence.

For companies requiring a complex solution, which would facilitate typical office tasks, such as printing, copying, scanning and faxing, at the same time enabling to receive high quality colour printouts, the organisers prepared a presentation of multifunction Xerox devices. WorkCentre M24 is a system that allows printing, scanning, using e-mail and faxing, as well as managing colour. Intuitive button and graphics of the interface simplify the correction of picture quality and controlling colour settings. Printing costs in black are comparable to other monochromatic devices of this class. However, for a colour printout, the user pays only when he uses the "colour” function.

In the scope of solutions improving work in the office, the organisers called to attention the possibility resulting from integrating fax with the computer network using the RightFax system from the company Captaris. Above all, this system enables the management and maintenance of control over all fax correspondence in an organisation. RightFax allows the following: Increasing capacity by adding successive channels to the server without having to install separate fax devices, integration with e-mail and finally – cost reduction of connections by sending faxes in the most economic way.

Participant of Datacom Open Days also got to know the Teamplate system by the company Captaris, optimising document circulation in the office, and the system by Equitrac meant for monitoring and controlling printing, copying, scanning and faxing costs. All of the above systems improving work in offices are dedicated to cooperating with the new line of Xerox multifunction devices, embracing the following: Xerox Document Centre, Work Centre Pro and Work Centre Pro Color: WorkCentre Pro 35,45,55, Xerox Work Centre Pro 65, 75, 90 and Xerox Work Centre Pro Color 32, 40.
